When to Visit Girona: Best Time of Year, Weather and Crowds
Girona is a year-round destination, but the experience changes a lot by season. Spring brings the famous Temps de Flors flower festival, summer is busy and hot with the Costa Brava in full swing.
Quick Answer:May and September are the sweet spot: warm days, fewer crowds, lower prices. Avoid August in the Old Town if you dislike crowds, and December and January if you need beach weather on the Costa Brava.
Spring (Mar to May)
The Temps de Flors festival in May fills the medieval lanes with floral installations. One of the highlights of the Catalan calendar.
Summer (Jun to Aug)
Hot, busy and the best time to combine the city with Costa Brava beaches. Pre-book everything in August.
Autumn (Sep to Nov)
Quieter, cheaper, still warm in September. Best mix of weather and value.
Winter (Dec to Feb)
Mild for European standards, with Christmas markets and the lowest prices of the year.
